Energy Monitoring

Worked as a freelance UX/UI designer on SETAS' energy monitoring platform, designing both the web dashboard and mobile app for international users managing tariffs, contracts, invoices, and consumption anomalies across multiple accounts.

Goal

Give SETAS' users one clear system to watch their energy consumption, detect anomalies before they become costly, and respond quickly, replacing scattered invoices and manual tracking with a single, real-time dashboard.

UNDERSTANDING THE USERS

Energy billing is dense by nature: multiple tariff types, time-based pricing (T0 through T3), reactive energy charges, distribution fees, and contracts that vary by consumer type. Most platforms bury this complexity in raw numbers and expect users to make sense of it. Every design decision started from the opposite instinct: surface what matters immediately (consumption, cost, price trends) and let users drill into contract-level detail only when they need to.

Watching consumption is only half the job. The other half is catching problems early, unusual spikes, pricing discrepancies, invoice errors, before they turn into real costs. That's why incident detection and invoice inspection became core parts of the product, not afterthoughts bolted onto a monitoring dashboard.

users

SETAS serves organizations managing energy across multiple sites, units, and contracts, from day-to-day monitoring to financial oversight.

Facility & Energy Managers

Track real-time consumption, tariff details, and contract terms across multiple meters and locations. Need to catch anomalies fast and understand exactly what they're being charged for, and why.

Finance & Billing Teams

Rely on invoice inspection to catch discrepancies between contracted rates and actual charges. Need clarity on every cost component, power price, distribution fees, reactive energy, taxes, without digging through raw utility bills.

Administrators

Manage users, roles, devices, and units across the platform. Need a system that scales cleanly as more sites, tenants, and team members are added.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

A platform built to watch, detect, and respond, turning dense energy contracts, tariffs, and invoices into a single, clear system for monitoring consumption and catching problems before they become costly.

Built for Complexity, Designed for Clarity

Energy contracts involve dozens of variables, tariff types, time-based pricing, reactive charges. The dashboard surfaces the numbers that matter first, keeping deep contract detail one click away instead of front and center.

Beyond monitoring, the platform actively flags anomalies through a dedicated incident system, turning energy management from reactive bill-checking into proactive oversight.

Roles, units, and devices are managed independently per account, letting SETAS scale across multiple organizations without compromising clarity for any single user.

DESIGN SYSTEM CREATION

Managing energy across dozens of screens, users, roles, and data types meant nothing could be designed one-off. A full design system came first, everything else was built on top of it.

Token-Based Foundation

Built on a full set of design tokens, colors, spacing, radius, typography, so every screen pulled from the same source instead of reinventing values page by page.

Component Library

From sidebar navigation to data cards, tags, and tooltips, every recurring element became a reusable component, keeping dozens of dense, data-heavy screens visually consistent.

Built for Data Density

Energy dashboards live or die by how they handle dense numbers. The system defined clear patterns for metric cards, pie charts, and comparison tags, so complex data stayed readable, not overwhelming.

DESIGN DECISIONS

Every choice in the UI was made to keep dense energy data readable, not overwhelming, across every screen.

Clarity Over Density

Metrics, tags, and comparisons were designed to surface the number that matters first, with contract-level detail available on demand instead of front-loaded onto every screen.

Consistent Visual Language

Inter runs throughout the platform for clean, dependable readability, paired with a restrained color system so status colors (like anomaly flags) stand out exactly when they should.

Built for Multi-Tenant Scale

Every component, cards, tags, sidebar navigation, was designed to hold up whether a user is managing one site or dozens, without the interface losing clarity as complexity grows.
